Spring 2023

My favourite time of the year has arrived at last!

It is with great delight that we welcome Spring into Highpoint and to celebrate, we have timely aligned our incentre mannequin refresh to mark the occasion, including the addition of 3 new mannequin pods which you can find located right outside Forever New on level 3.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to finally ditch my winter warmers and heavy coats for a lighter weight alternative. Don’t get me wrong, as a Stylist (and a Melbournian through and through) I love to layer. It is the art of layering that makes me love Winter fashion so much. However, after enduring months of cold mornings, wet afternoons, and chilly nights, I’m looking forward to creating new outfits that feel a little less clunky. The reason I adore the Spring season so much is that it kind of encapsulates a little bit of every season. For those of us living in Melbourne, a warmer layer is always essential (even in Summer!) as you never know when the weather will turn on you. The Spring weather carries a joyful air and with this - plus some added Vitamin D - I can’t help but feel uplifted by the cheerful spirit that is already slowly starting to reveal itself.

To celebrate the arrival of Spring, I had the pleasure of visiting some of my favourite retailers at Highpoint to curate a round-up of spring infused outfits and complimentary accessories. Over the coming weeks, most retailers will have their rails stocked with great pieces to get you excited about the gorgeous months ahead.

We know by now that florals for spring aren’t exactly ground-breaking however there are plenty of ways to level up and take some styling risks to elevate the ever consistent print. Clashing your spring prints together is a fun way to play with colour. Look for colour cues in the prints to help you clash correctly. You’ll be surprised at some of the results. Gorman is a great place to start if you are keen to explore a print clash this Spring. I’ve paired their floral pleated midi skirt with a more geometric checker print. By pulling out the blues and green hues from the floral print, you can create a contrasting moment that has surprisingly cohesive results. If you want to remain in a safer fashion dialogue, level up your accessories instead and opt for a more classic spring print like the orange florals from Forever New.

When I think of warmer months, I instantly think of brighter colours. If prints aren’t for you, try visiting Sussan and explore their new range including this citrus orange 2 piece suit. I’ve kept it more chic by ditching an underlayer and adding a bold necklace to the neckline instead. Try turning your suit jacket into a top for an elevated evening look. Just be sure to do the buttons up!

For the boys, Politix, Peter Jackson and M.J. Bale are your destinations for spring prints and pastel hues when looking for more elevated evening or occasion wear choices. I’m also loving the powder blue and orange Clarks Wallabees and have seen a few street style moments paired back with suiting for a more youthful and relaxed approach to outfitting tailored ensembles.

Linen is of course coming through hard and fast from the majority of retailers and always looks chic when styled tonally. Sportsgirl have done an exceptional tailored jacket sans sleeves and matching short in a beautifully warm green linen. It looks so expensive, I’m sure it will sell out immediately considering their great price point. Pair your linen sets back with tan sandals and slides from Betts – these will be your staple over the coming months.

Colette have dropped a new range of bags with bamboo, floral and gold accents which feel quintessentially spring. Billini and Tony Bianco are exploring wedges which are fast becoming a summer trend. It seems orange is the ‘IT’ colour, at least for this week!
